Module for the treatment of intraepithelial anal neoplastic lesions

The System for the treatment of AIN lesions can be associated with the THD® Proctostation integrated proctological station, providing several solutions for the treatment of anal intraepithelial neoplastic lesions.

The AIN lesion treatment module makes it possible to electrosurgically ablate and coagulate different types of anal lesions in a practical and safe way thanks to its technical features.

The AIN module for electrosurgical treatment of anal intraepithelial neoplastic lesions consists of a low-power electrosurgical unit with different shape tips to meet the different requirements and of a smoke evacuation system.

High-Frequency Desiccator

The High-Frequency Desiccator is a low-power electrosurgical unit developed for the treatment of anal dysplasia and for performing other surgical procedures in the perianal region.

The High-Frequency Desiccator includes:

  • the Reusable Handpiece High-Frequency Desiccator, an electrosurgical unit with power switching buttons, autoclavable up to 25 times.
  • the stainless steel support for mounting it on the trolley

The High-Frequency Desiccator can be used with the following components:

  • the Smoke Evacuator Tubing Kit, a single-use kit for the evacuation of operating fumes when using the High-Frequency Desiccator. Sold together with the electrosurgical unit and also separately.
  • the Reusable Grounding Cable High-Frequency Desiccator for use with or without grounding cable and relative pad. Tested for 100 uses and sold separately.
  • the Disposable Grounding Pad, a pad used with the Reusable Grounding Cable to ground the patient without physical contact with the operator.

Electrosurgical Unit

The Electrosurgical Unit is a multi-function electrosurgical unit which allows to perform monopolar and bipolar surgical procedures thanks to 5 different standard energy outputs: cutting, coagulation, cutting and coagulation, electrosurgery, and standard bipolar.

The electrosurgical unit includes:

  • the ESU Reusable Grounding Cable for use in combination with the ESU Disposable Grounding Pad, tested for 100 uses. Spare parts available separately.

The Electrosurgical Unit can be used with the following components:

  • the Smoke Evacuator Fusion Handpiece, a low-profile single-use electrosurgical handpiece with integrated smoke channel for use in combination with Smoke Evacuation Fusion tips. Sold separately.
  • the Smoke Evacuator Fusion Suction Tubing Kit, a single-use kit developed for the evacuation of aerosols and surgical gases in combination with the Smoke Evacuator Fusion Hand Piece and with the Smoke Evacuator tips. It is not intended for the suction of liquids. Sold separately.
  • the Smoke Evacuator Fluid Catch Tubing Kit, a kit for the evacuation of aerosols, gases and electrosurgical liquids to be used in combination with the Smoke Evacuator Fusion Handpiece and with the Smoke Evacuator tips. Sold separately.
  • the Disposable Grounding pads ESU, pads used in combination with the ESU Reusable Grounding Cable to ensure proper cable connection and patient grounding, reducing the risk of electric shock and burns.

Electrosurgical probes

THD supplies a complete line of electrosurgical tips to be used in combination with the electrosurgical unit for the removal of anal intraepithelial neoplastic lesions and for other surgical requirements.

The range of flexible electrosurgical tips includes tips with the following features and various shapes:

  • hollow core to allow direct evacuation of the fumes behind the end of the tip.
  • flexible tip to allow the operator to reach and treat the lesion from different angles.

The shape and features of the various tips allow to surgically treat anal neoplastic intraepithelial lesions by ablation, coagulation and electrosurgery, according to the surgeon’s specific requirements:

6” Tips for anal intraepithelial lesions within the anal canal

  • Fusion Flex Ball tips: flexible tip with spherical end for haemostasis by electro-thermal coagulation.
  • Fusion Flex Blade tips: flexible tip with steel blade for removing perianal lesions through electro-thermal electrosurgery.
  • Fusion Flex Needle tips: flexible tip with steel needle for the resection of lesions by electro-thermal ablation.
  • Fusion Flex Coag tips: flexible tip with steel ends for the suction of smoke and fluids to allow faster haemostasis during the coagulation procedure.

2” Tips for perianal intraepithelial lesions

  • Fusion Flex Ball tips: flexible tip with spherical end in steel for haemostasis by electro-thermal coagulation.
  • Fusion Plastic Blade tips: tip with Teflon-coated steel blade for the ablation of perianal lesions by electro-thermal electrosurgery.
  • Fusion Flex Needle tips: flexible tip with steel needle for the resection of lesions by electro-thermal ablation.

Smoke Evacuator

The Smoke Evacuator is a high-efficiency filtration system lightweight and compact. This system is used to aspirate fumes during the electrosurgical treatment of the lesion.

The Smoke Evacuator includes a foot switch for easy hands-free activation, 3 ports for maximum connection versatility and a push-button fan with LED indicator for quick identification of current settings. The use of the Smoke Evacuator in combination with the Smoke Evacuator Fusion Hand Piece guarantees better results.

The Smoke Evacuator can be used with the following components:

  • 4-stage replacement Filter: a filter designed to filter aerosols, coarse particulates and microorganisms with an efficiency of 99.999%. The carbon filter ensures the absorption of toxic gases. Item sold separately.
  • remote activator: allows the automatic activation of the Smoke Evacuator when it is connected to the Electrosurgical Unit or to the High-Frequency Desiccator. Item sold separately.
