Pathophysiology of haemorrhoidal disease
Haemorrhoidal disease is linked to hypertension of the haemorrhoidal plexus (vascular component) and to degeneration of the connective tissue (mechanical component).
The oedema and the weakening of the walls of the peripheral vessels resulting from inflammation cause the onset of symptoms such as itching, pain and bleeding and favour the chronicization of the disease.
To treat the haemorrhoidal disease it is therefore important to act on the various aspects underlying the vicious circle which determines the onset and subsequent chronicization of the disorders associated with it.

THD® Cream forms a film on haemorrhoids, which protects the treated zone and creates an environment favourable to healing and unfavorable to bacterial engraftment.
The oily part of the formula helps to lubricate the perianal area facilitating the expulsion of the faeces, thus reducing stress on the inflamed zone and contributing to alleviating pain during defecation.
The natural ingredients contained in THD® Cream contribute to a rapid well-being and to restoring optimal physiological conditions.
THD® Cream also contain flavonoids whose anti-oxidant action helps to improve micro-circulation in the affected area. The flavonoids contained in THD® Cream make the microenvironment in contact with the cream unfavourable to bacterial proliferation, thus contributing to reducing the inflammatory process at local level.
Lubricating and film-forming properties
Components: sweet almond oil and CM-Glucan.
The oily substances contained in the formula contribute to lubricating the area of application and facilitate the passage of faeces. CM-Glucan is also effective in creating a protective film on the treated area. The lubricant avoids contact between the walls of the sphincter, reducing stress in the inflamed area and relieving pain during defecation.
Emollient and moisturising properties
Components: CM-Glucan, D-Panthenol and Glycerine.
- CM-Glucan: in addition to creating a protective film on the treated area, it contributes to hydrating the skin thanks to its ability to absorb water.
- D-Panthenol: a soluble and hygroscopic molecule with moisturising properties.
- Glycerine: has a wetting, emollient effect and delays evaporation.
Components: Hamamelis Virgiliana leaf water, ruscus oil extract, escin, boswellia extract.
Venous stasis and the consequent oxidative stress associated with the haemorrhoidal disease determine an inflammatory condition and tissue damage manifested by itching and irritation.
THD® Cream counteracts the oxidative mechanism thanks to some vegetable ingredients in its formulation:
- Hamamelis Virginiana leaf water: thanks to the content of tannins and flavonoids, it acts as a natural anti-oxidant.
- Oily ruscus extract: it also exerts an antioxidant action thanks to its content of phenolic compounds.
- Escin: acts as an antioxidant.
- Boswella extract: acts as an antioxidant.
Control properties of the microenvironment made unfavourable to bacterial proliferation
Components: ruscus extract.
Thanks to its content of phenolic components (such as flavonoids), the oily extract of ruscus plays a key role in contrasting the proliferation of both gram positive and, to a lesser extent, gram negative bacteria. This component makes the microenvironment formed by the areas of contact with the preparation unfavourable to bacterial proliferation.
